Houston Contemporary Dance Company's mission is to ignite passion for contemporary dance by providing work-class professional repertory performances and community engagement activities centered around inclusiveness. Join Founder and Artistic Director, Marlana Doyle, along with company members for a masterclass in contemporary styles expressing emotionality through movement.
The class takes place Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 6:30-8pm in the Little Carver, 226 N. Hackberry Street, BEHIND the Jo Long Theatre at the Carver Community Cultural Center. It is an intermediate to advanced class, geared for ages 11 through adult. Cost is $10 and pre-registration is required.
This Contemporary Jazz class taught by
Marlana Doyle, will focus on gaining strength, refining technique as well as
embracing the freedom of contemporary movement. The class begins with a 45
minute structure warm up building on release, center barre elements, core
strengthening and stretching. Then you will move across the floor working on
technique and then finishing class with an upbeat or slower contemporary jazz
combination focusing on dynamic, emotion and artistry.
Please wear comfortable clothing.
