2025 Carver Summer Dance Intensive (DBDT)

The Carver's renowned two-week summer dance intensive offers an unparalleled experience for dancers 10-18 years of age to expand their capabilities in a challenging exploration of dance in an uplifting, supportive and professional environment.  

Under the direction of professional dancers from internationally acclaimed Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the program curriculum includes daily instruction in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz and West African dance vernaculars with all student dancers learning technique, terminology, choreography, as well as professional and personal enrichment developed specifically for dancers.  

Beginning to advanced dancers are welcome, but some prior dance experience is recommended. Less experienced dancers will strengthen foundational knowledge and skill, while more advanced students will focus of clarity of technique, increased strength and greater musicality. 

This year's intensive will culminate with an in-person performance on Friday, July 25, 2025 before a live audience of family, friends and the general public. 

AGES

• Students, ages 10-18
• All participants must be at least age 10, on or before Monday, July 14, 2025. 

DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• It is recommended that students have prior dance instruction or have previously participated in Dance Intensive. All students should be motivated and committed to make the most of this challenging, yet rewarding experience. 

DATES/TIMES

• July 14-25, M-F, 8:30AM-4 PM
• Participants must be picked up no later than 4:00 PM daily (after-camp child care services not provided)

ENROLLMENT

• Enrollment begins 12AM, Saturday, March 17, 2025.
• Enrollment closes when all available spaces are filled.
• Payment required to complete enrollment.
• Wait-listing activates when camp enrollments are full but offers no guarantee of enrollment.

ENROLLMENT FEE

• Regular Rate, $350 (includes $65 non-refundable deposit)
• ARTicipate Rate $50 (Financial Assistance - one time, nonrefundable payment)

ARTicipate FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

• Completed ARTicipate application and supporting documents required to receive financial assistance
• Enrollments that do not provide required documentation will be converted to Regular Rate.

Payment in Full

• One-time payment of $350
• Installment plan available
• ARTicipate payment of $50 (please provide documentation for this option, see forms)

The following required items are not covered by camp enrollment fees and may incur additional financial responsibility to households:

Leotards, leggings

• Ballet slippers (color to match student's skin tone)
• Black jazz shoes
• Lapis (brightly designed fabric bolt worn around waist)
• Bagged lunch, water bottle and snacks.
