2025 THEATER CAMP (June 9-27, 2025)
The fun and excitement of Summer Theater Camp at the Carver begins June 9-27, 2025 for actors and technical crew, ages 10-18.
Our three-week theatre intensive offers young actors and technicians an immersive experience in theatre under the guidance of theatre professionals. The camp is led by the AMAZING Christopher Reese, theatre teacher at Sam Houston High School and SAISD's Teacher of the Year 2023! As an actor, he has been featured in the musicals A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Threepenny Opera, and Sweeney Todd. An alumnus of SAISD, he received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Theatre and Communication Studies from Texas State University where he was the recipient of various awards for acting and Public Speaking. A member of the M.F.A. Acting program at The University of Texas at Austin, he received his Master’s degree in 2013 where he was a Virginia L. Murchison Regents Fellow.
Actors will receive daily instruction in acting skills, choreography, and voice training from professional artists, while technical theatre students will work alongside professional technicians to learn production, sound, lighting, props, costuming and more!
This year, the intensive culminates in a fully produced performance featuring the full company! The production will showcase our students as entertainment icons who come together to raise funds for the arts!
The camp will culminate with a performance before a live audience of family and friends on Friday, June 27 at 7:00 pm in the historic and iconic Jo Long Theatre!
